The Yelolow Wallpaper
A young woman and her physician husband rent a mansion for the summer, where she is confined to an attic nursery as she descends into madness.
With bars at the windows, and the bed nailed to the floor, the peeled and torn sickly-yellow wallpaper becomes the young woman's obsession, seeing moonlit figures behind the patterns, and with an understanding of the 'truth' that only she knows.
Written by American author Charlotte Perkins Gilman in 1892, The Yellow Wallpaper is a classic of Victorian Gothic Horror.
